ValexConsulting delivers global standards database and approval management software for a major Pharmaceutical Company to assist its Marketing group in tracking marketing materials and activities

Situation
The marketing department of a major Pharmaceutical Company is involved with manually tracking and approving marketing materials for over 30 affiliates/countries. Data was being sent via mail, email, etc. and then scanned for distribution to the Standards Board. Archiving and collection of materials was an operational headache with multiple cabinets being dedicated to storage of these artifacts. Sharing of the artifacts with affiliates was virtually impossible. Re-submission of materials with corrections caused additional time and resources being wasted. Web-based system with an ability to track materials, approvals, publishing, etc. had to be designed and implemented.

Solution
Microsoft 3-tiered architecture was implemented utilizing: ASP VBScript, Microsoft® Visual Basic® COM and SQL Server 2000 (TSQL, DTS). Materials are digitally stored in the database as BLOBs (Binary Large Objects). The new application offers quick and easy way to look up existing materials already approved for the markets as well make a submission of new materials, their distribution and approval. System administrator can not only see where each submission is but also fully control agendas for the Standards Board meetings, roles, access, lookups, etc.
